We made an offer on a house, they rejected, then we've had a follow up?

A 3 bedroom house in Essex going for £140,000 (gone down from £155,000 before christmas). It needs some redecorating/maintenance for sure, but in general is a nice place.

We offered £130,000. They turned us down flat and said they want the asking price. We told the estate agent we were disappointed and would get in touch with them if things changed. Today we have received a call from estate agent asking us if we want to make another offer. She reckons she has sold 2 houses recently for asking price (in the recession?).

My boyfriend takes it as a good sign that she has got back to us – that they are eager. But I feel like she is just pressuring us to make more offers.

They haven't got a house they are moving to, the owner is moving back in with her mother to then look to get a smaller place.

Any ideas what we should do next?
